Consent and Respectful Relationship Education project

Consent and Respectful Relationships Education (CRRE) is helping students improve their wellbeing and reduce abuse and violence.

The project

CSNSW is the Program Administrator on behalf of the Catholic sector in NSW for the Commonwealth funded Consent and Respectful Relationships Education (CRRE) project.

This project is designed to support the wellbeing of Australian primary and secondary school students, as well as school communities more broadly, through investment in expert-developed, high-quality, evidence-based and age-appropriate CRRE.

Consent and respectful relationship education makes a positive impact in Australian schools. It plays a crucial role in preventing abuse and violence by teaching young people about:

  • boundaries
  • mutual respect
  • the significance of mutual agreement in all their interactions.

Essential skills

This education promotes the development of healthy relationships. It imparts essential skills such as communication, empathy and conflict resolution.

 It empowers students:

  • to make informed decisions about their bodies and relationships
  • to dismantle harmful myths and stereotypes about gender roles and sexuality
  • and it aligns with Australian legal and social standards.

Improves wellbeing

Consent and respectful relationship education contributes to the overall wellbeing of students by:

  • fostering a safer and more supportive school environment
  • reducing the likelihood of bullying and harassment
  • building a foundation for a more respectful and considerate society in the future.
