SBATs are available to all high school students in NSW in Year 10, 11 and 12, undertaking the Higher School Certificate (HSC). The program allows students to commence an apprenticeship or complete a traineeship while at school.
SBATs provide opportunities for students to gain:
- valuable work skills and experience through paid employment
- an industry-recognised national qualification
- credit towards the HSC (with some SBATs contributing towards the ATAR)
SBATs are available in a range of industry areas. If you can't see the industry you're looking for listed in the links below, contact your school career advisor or SBAT coordinator to see if it can be made available:
- School based apprenticeships: available in a range of traditional trade-certificates, started at school and completed post school.
- School based traineeships: available in a range of industries and completed at school as part of the HSC.
