Join us for the 2024 Education Law Symposium

Catholic Schools NSW invites leaders from across Catholic education to the fifth annual Education Law Symposium on Monday 15th July 2024. This year’s theme is Catholic School Governance: Shaping our Future.

Designed for leaders involved in the management and governance of Catholic schools, systems, and agencies, this in-person event will explore the complex governance issues that challenge our sector and provide valuable insights and opportunities for discussion.

This year’s symposium will include keynotes, panels and workshop sessions discussing the following topics:

  • Section 83C.
  • Responsible Persons.
  • AI and Implications for School Governance.
  • Ministerial Public Juridic Persons.
  • The school curriculum.
  • Effective governance.
  • Teacher supply.

To access the event updates, symposium resources and more download the conference app – WHOVA! Visit WHOVA either by downloading the app on your phone using the QR codes below or by visiting WHOVA online via desktop through the button below. Finding the Symposium Floor

Please keep in mind the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth’s main entrance is currently closed, thus directions to the Symposium event floor are listed below.

If you are entering the venue from Philip Street, walk into the Wentworth Arcade, located to the left of the base of the hotel, and turn right before the escalators. You’ll find the open walkway with signage for the Symposium next to Adora Chocolate.

If you enter from Bligh Street, the entrance is next to Wilson Parking, take the escalators up to the Wentworth Arcade. Turn left at the top of the escalators, where you’ll see the open walkway with signage for the Symposium next to Adora Chocolate.

There will also be Catholic Schools NSW staff and Sofitel staff located at both entrances for further assistance.

Getting to Symposium

By Car

If you are driving to the event, The Sofitel Sydney Wentworth Wilson Car Park, located at 2 Bligh Street, is the nearest parking station. However, parking is available at various parking stations throughout the Sydney CBD.

CSNSW Law Symposium Conference attendees, and in-house Sofitel Sydney Wentworth hotel guests, are eligible for discounted parking rates for the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth Wilson Car Park. Discounted rate (drive-up only) is $65 per vehicle. This rate allows one entry (after 6:00 AM) and one exit (before 11:59 PM) on the day of the conference. To claim the parking discount, you must advise Wilson Parking staff that you attended the CSNSW Law Symposium event, upon arrival and upon exiting at the car park window (Level 1 of the hotel).

Note: Online booking is not eligible for this discount.

By Train or Light Rail

Wynyard Train Station is a short 4-minute walk from the venue. Take the Hunter Street ‘EXIT’ out of Wynyard station, then head east towards Hamilton Street. Turn LEFT heading down Phillip Street, and on your left will be the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth hotel main entrance on Phillip Street.
